Skin, Lash & Brow Self Care

If you’re like me, you’re not wearing makeup right now during this COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) pandemic. That doesn’t mean you need to neglect your skin! Here are my essential products that I use for my face and body!

Dying Eyelashes

Confession, I LOVE dying my own eyelashes and I’ve done it for years now. Using color with peroxide next to your eyeball is not safe and some states prohibit the sale of it. However, I found that if I just dye the tips of my very blonde lashes, I’m totally happy with it and rarely get it in my eyeball.

If you look at their instructions, you will see it’s pretty basic, apply step 1, then apply step 2, set for 60 seconds and then wipe off. I prefer to apply with a Q-tip, and like to remove with damp cotton rounds.

I literally only apply it to the tips of my lashes to completely avoid possible contact with my eyeball (Getting color in your eye is NOT GOOD.) I then use a gentle cleanser and wash my whole face to make sure I’ve gotten all the dye off. This is what I do, I strongly suggest you read their instructions and do what you’re comfortable with.

I must say though, that this service is much better by a professional. Often you end up with new dye-freckles around your eyes, it’s often IN your eye (which is not good!) and on top of that, it rarely lasts as long as when a pro does it.

Healthy Eyelashes And Brows With 1 Step

Castor Oil is AMAZING and darn cheap! I apply this morning and night to my lashes and brows. It promotes healthy hair growth and stronger hair!

Is Facial Cleanser Worth It?

My Nelly Devuyst BioAcne Cleanser is THE most important product in my routine. If you DO NOT have a good cleanser, you are not treating your skin right!

Just like proper shampoo, facial cleanser removes just the right amount of dirt and oil, without stripping you skins protective barrier! This cleanser from Nelly had salicylic acid in it which really helps curb all my hormonal breakouts!

Also, a NATURAL facial brush is key for breakout prone skin! It’s just the right amount of daily exfoliation!

Vitamin E

Vitamin E oil is KEY for moisture, healing scars and your (accidentally) picked pimples!

Right now I’m suffering from serious dermatitis around my nose and mouth that got SO bad a few weeks ago! Using just straight up Vitamin E has cleared it up about 50% and made it significantly less irritated and itchy.

ALSO, my young son has the same thing from teething and I’ve been using it on him too!

Retinol, It Does Make A Difference

Honest Co Retinol is the newest tool in my skincare toolbox! I’m using it on my cheeks, forehead, neck and jaw to reduce my acne scars.

I’m SO pale, so 10 years of having acne had really made me accumulate lots of purplely-brown scars. I HATE them. I wish so much that I could just ERASE them.

Even though I’ve only been using this product for a couple weeks, I DO notice a difference in the darkness of the spots! I’m also obviously very sensitive to things, and I have had no bad reactions to it! Woohoo!

Best Full Body Lotion Ever!

Last, but certainly not least, I must tell you about Red Chair Lavender Body Lotion.

Oh my gosh you guys, this lotion is the BOMB! I lathered myself in it the entire time I was pregnant. It has healthy ingredients and smells like you are laying in the sun on a field of lavender. Best. Lotion. Ever.

*Update

Due to my continued issues with perioral and periorbital dermatitis, I have discontinued the facial products listed above. I recently have discovered AMPERNA products and am hopeful that I will see results. I am still unsure of what has caused my dermatitis, but as I hunt for the culprit, I will be using these products. I must admit, I am deeply upset and miss my Nelly cleanser the most. It made my skin feel so clean and fresh.
